Long Coastal Walks to the Journey's End Inn for the best sunday lunch ever

The Journey’s End Inn is a 13th century free house in the village of Ringmore, which is on the South Devon coast in an area known as the South Hams. Having four fires to enjoy in the winter months and conservatory and large beer garden, there’s plenty of room for everyone in the family.

Take the Sea Tractor to Burgh Island & The Pilchard Inn

Mooch across Bigbury beach to Burgh Island and The Pilchard Inn. When the tide is in, you can also take a ride on the sea tractor operated by Burgh Island Hotel, – the fare is £2.00 each way.

The third generation hydraulic Sea Tractor, is the only one in the world.

Supper at the Oyster Shack

Rewind 30 years and The Shack actually housed an oyster farm people pulled up their deckchairs to tuck in.

“SERVING DEVON’S FINEST SEAFOOD IN CRACKING STYLE”  (the Oyster Shack)

Just a 10-15 minute drive & also currently doing take away every Friday and Saturday!

Wonderful week at The Beacon.

The house is lovely, very well equipped with lovely views. The kitchen is superb and I enjoyed cooking there so much we never went out in the evenings to eat. The Garden also very pretty with the added bonus of vegetables across the lane in an honesty box provided by the neighbouring farm.

A bit of a walk to the beach but the property provided us with a free parking permit for the nearby field car park which was a bonus! Perfect for walkers as the Beacon sits on the coastal path.

The only downside is that the nearest shop and pub is a drive away unless you go to the Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island which is accessible by foot when tide is out.

Sunsets and views are breathtaking. Thank you The Beacon for a great stay!
